Elite Runners
If, since January 1, 2007, you have achieved a time equal to or better than the minimum standards (see table below) on a certified course at any of the three race distances, you are eligible for elite runner status and a complimentary entry into the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run. To achieve the status, you must:
- Send an e-mail to the elite athlete coordinator. Include the following information: Name, age, gender, DxA2 race selection, qualifying time, and qualifying race and date.
- The DxA2 Elite athlete coordinator will verify the qualifying information, and will then award you a place on the elite athlete complimentary list. You will be notified by e-mail of your placement on the list, or if there are any issues with your elite status. (If for any reason you do not receive this e-mail within 2 weeks of your initial e-mail, it is suggested the you follow up with a 2nd e-mail to the race director.)
- In the confirmation e-mail from the elite coordinator you will be given a code to use to register on the race website. You must select proper “elite runner” selection from the group list on the 1st page and enter the code on the 2nd page of the on-line registration form. If you enter the proper code, you will be allowed to register free of charge.
- One week before the race, you will be sent an e-mail and asked to confirm your intention to participate in the event.
- You will be awarded a race number, chip, and a T-shirt free of charge, which you must pick up at the Expo or downtown on the morning of the race.
Note: Elite entries at the Expo will not be allowed.
Mitch Garner is the elite athlete coordinator and may be reached at megarner71@sbcglobal.net or 734-662-3793.
Drug Testing Note: All elite athlete entrants and the top 3 open and masters race finishers (of each race) may be subject to a supervised USADA drug test directly after the race at the discretion of the race director and/or the AATC. If a test is requested and refused, the runner will be disqualified and listed as such in the results, with no awards given, and a report will be issued to the RRCA.
Note on declines: The AATC reserves the right to decline the application of any applicant for any reason. If such a refusal is deemed appropriate, the athlete will be notified. All decisions of this nature are confirmed by the race director before notification is made to the athlete and as such are final, and there is no appeals process.
Note to Foreign athletes: All athletes who are not citizens of the U.S.A. must be members of the USATF, and also must appear in person at the race Expo and produce a valid form of US entry ID, such as a passport for review. If any foreign athlete cannot make it to the race Expo due to travel restrictions, notification must be made a head of time to the Elite Athlete Coordinator so that proper verification of paperwork can be conducted.
Note to agents: No winnings from any athlete, foreign or domestic, will be awarded directly to an agent, either at the race or afterwards. All payments MUST be made directly to the winning athlete, either in person, or to their mailing address. All checks will be made out to the athlete’s name, not to the name of an agent or corporation.
Prize Money and Bonuses
In addition to a complimentary entry, elite runners may set their sights on the prize money for the Half Marathon and the bonuses offered for new course records all three events.
